'Ceres Celestial Legend' Summary

Two twins, Aya and Aki Mikage, are normal teenagers when they celebrate their 16th birthday at their grandfather's house. Grandfather Mikage shows them a mummified hand that is supposed to be their "birthday present" and suddenly, Aya transforms into the celestial maiden, Ceres, and Aki gets severe wounds all over his body. In that instant, their worlds begin to change as destiny reveals itself. Aki is taken away and locked up into a room where he is carefully monitored while Aya is being attacked my her own family! Her whole family hates her now so she is forced to leave. Aya is taken in by Suzumi, who is also a celestial maiden, and her brother-in-law, Yuuhi. Aya later learns of the legend that sits with her family. Long ago, Ceres came down from the heavens to bathe. A fisherman stole her robes, which she needed to go return to heaven, and hid them. He forced the celestial being to become his wife and she bore his many children. Ceres begged for her robes but the fisherman would give them back. This angered the celestial maiden and she inflicted severe wounds that killed him. It is now known that Aki was the fisherman and the Mikages are trying to awaken him while Aya must learn to control Ceres from coming out and killing her family.
